John married his high school sweetheart, Lynn Alimo who passed away a short six month ago. John and Lynn celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in September of 2020.
Throughout John’s life, three things mattered to him the most: his faith, his family and his beloved wife Lynn. His commitment to his faith was certain and unwavering. The love for his family and the devotion to his wife was boundless. He leaves behind his daughter Janine Dethmers and husband Doug; son John Alimo Jr. and wife Sheila; and son Mark Alimo and wife Lynn. He had special relationships with all of his grandchildren Heather, Dexter, Allison, Meaghan, Johnny III, Duffy, Ryan, Grace, and great grandchildren Cordelia, Rockwell, and John IV. He always took an active and authentic interest in his children and grandchildren’s lives leaving each of them feeling like they mattered the most.
John came from humble beginnings. His optimism and street-smart character led him to a very successful career. He worked for General Foods/ Kraft/ Philip Morris for over thirty years. He began his career as a coffee salesman, worked his way up the ranks and ascended in the company to become a key corporate executive. He loved the people he worked with and the work that he did. Talking and sharing stories about his career brought him great pride and joy.
John was a good and decent man who loved unconditionally and always saw the best in people. He saw potential in everything and everyone he encountered. He was a good listener, a mindful advisor and had a heart of gold. His smile and welcoming spirit lit up the room. His love and dedication for his wife Lynn was beyond measure and their relationship was inspiring to all. He would do anything for her and he always put her first. They were inseparable, best friends and soul mates and are now eternally connected.
