John “Johnny B” Good, Jr. passed away on May 22, 2025. He is survived by his beautiful wife of 54 years, Donna (Kimtis) Good. They met on a blind date in 1969. Exactly two years later they were married. John and Donna moved to the Cape where they raised their two children in West Yarmouth.
John was the kindest, most loving and generous man. With a huge heart he was the happiest when he was giving to others whether they were in need or not. He loved sitting back and watching his loved ones be together. Those moments always revealed his big beautiful blue twinkling eyes. John loved to poke fun and “stir the pot.” Often known to throw out one-liners and then sit back to watch the fireworks – always with a big grin.
John was born in Boston on April 24, 1945. He was raised in Roslindale, MA with his parents and two siblings. A unique coincidence is that John was born on his father’s birthday (April 24, 1918) and then John’s oldest grandson, Jack, was born on the same day (April 24, 2004). Our dad loved this connection and the fact they all shared the name John Francis Good.
One of John’s most notable accomplishments was graduating from the Massachusetts State Police Academy in 1969. He was stationed to the MSP barracks in South Yarmouth where he proudly worked for 30 years. Our dad was a hard worker. He continually signed up for extra shifts and details to help support his family. One of John’s biggest focuses was education. Whether it be for himself or his children. He always told us that we could attend whatever schools and colleges we wanted to – and he would figure out how to financially make it happen.
Before graduating from the MSP Academy, John graduated from Christopher Columbus High School in 1962. He later went on to complete a Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. He eventually worked his way up to become a Sergeant on the Mass State Police before he retired in 1999.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughter, Suzanne Hazard (Ned) of Bedford, NH; His son, Daniel Good (Margot) of Cincinnati, OH; Five grandchildren, Ben and Will Hazard and Betsy, Jack and Billy Good; His brother, Michael Good (Grace) of S. Easton, MA; His sister-in-law, Cyndie Noe of Dennis, MA; Several cousins, nieces and nephews. John is predeceased by his father John F. Good, Sr.; His mother, Margaret “Margie” (MacLennan) Good; His sister, Kathy (Good) Donnelly and his brother-in-law, and close friend, Chuck Kimtis.
John was well loved and will be greatly missed. We have so many wonderful memories to reflect upon. Two of which are Suzanne and John dancing to Johnny B. Good as their father/daughter dance at her wedding. And the famous “I LIKE COD!!!!!” after Dan tried to persuade him to try a piece of Pompano while on vacation in Florida. He wasn’t stubborn!
We find peace in knowing he is having some belly laughs, and beers, upstairs with some of his oldest and dearest friends – Eddie Sweeney, Wild Bill Fogerty, Digger Dorsey and Chuck Kimtis. May you rest in peace, Dad. We love you so much!
