

Millis, MA passed away on June 12, 2013 at home after battling
pulmonary fibrosis and its complications.
Born on October 20, 1938 in Sheboygan, WI, he was the son of the late
Raymond and Viola (Uphoff) Menne. Raised in East Troy, WI he
graduated from East Troy High School in 1956. A graduate of the
University of Colorado, Boulder with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Business, John spent his entire career working in the insurance
industry – 28 years in the private sector and 14 years working for the
Commonwealth of Massachusetts. His work took him and his family to
live in Denver, Phoenix, Los Angeles, and finally in Millis, MA. He
retired to Cape Cod in 1999.
John was a member of Phi Kappa Psi and maintained lifelong friendships
with his fraternity brothers. He loved talking to people and making
new friends. Throughout his life he kept in touch with and visited
friends from childhood, high school, college, neighbors, and work
colleagues. John cherished the time he spent with family especially
his grandchildren.
Active in the community, John was a member of Sertoma International
and the Lions Club. He served on the Millis town Personnel Committee
and the Finance Committee as well as the Millis Fund. He was a driver
for South Dennis Meals on Wheels.
In retirement John was an enthusiastic golfer and an avid traveler who
took trips all over the world. A dedicated Boston Red Sox fan, John
delighted in wearing his Red Sox cap on his travels to see what
conversations it would inevitably spark.
John leaves behind his loving wife Martha (Peffer) Menne; his
daughters Susan Riley and her husband Kenneth of Galesburg, IL;
Kathleen Livas and her husband Jeffrey of Millersville, MD; and
Japanese AFS exchange daughter Mariko Fukui and her husband Yoshikazu
of Nagoya, Japan; his grandchildren Emma and Julia Riley, Matthew,
Miranda, and Megan Livas, Yuta and Masahide Fukui; his sister Mary
Froelich and her husband Warren of Williston, ND; his brother David
Menne of Belle, MO; as well as several nieces and nephews. His
parents and his brother Theodore Menne of East Troy, WI preceded him
in death.
A Celebration of Life Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June
28, 2013 at Our Lady of the Cape Parish, 468 Stony Brook Road in
Brewster. Entombment at Holy Trinity Memorial Wall in West Harwich
will be private.
