“Pat” will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 56 years, Jack, and her children, Tracy Coughlan, Karen Long (Peter), Andrew Coughlan and Stephanie Fougere (Dan) as well as her seven grandchildren Otis, Henry, Kate, Sarah, Daniel, Cecilia and Margot. She will also be fondly remembered by her siblings; Jack and Dodie Boyle, Marylee and Bob Pelosky and Gerard and Barbara Boyle. Pat was predeceased by her brother Father Edward Boyle S.J. and sister Suzanne Doherty (nee Boyle).
Born on March 7, 1938, Pat was one of the six children of the late John and Marie (Fenton) Boyle. She was raised in Belmont, Massachusetts where she formed lifelong friendships which she treasured. After Belmont High School, Pat did a bicycle tour of Europe and then graduated from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital School of Nursing. In June of 1961 she met her future husband Jack in Falmouth, MA. They eventually settled in Cheshire, CT and raised their four children. Pat and Jack enjoyed 35 wonderful years there with many friends and Pat had a fulfilling career as the Head Nurse at Cheshire Academy. Pat was also active in the community as an avid tennis player and tennis instructor.
Pat and Jack were passionate about traveling and enjoyed many adventures including Hawaii, trips to Europe, memorable trips to San Francisco and exploring the national parks in the West and seasonal trips to Hilton Head, Florida and the Caribbean.
In 2005, Pat and Jack retired to Dennis, MA where Pat enjoyed being close to siblings, her many clubs and the beautiful beaches on the Cape. She was an enthusiastic member of the Dennis Garden Club. And she was a committed year round walker who cherished her walks on the beach. Pat was also a spiritual woman and involved in numerous church activities at Our Lady of the Cape.
Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.
Family and Friends will gather at the Doane, Beal, and Ames funeral home at 729 Route 134, South Dennis, MA 02660 for visitation on Friday, December 28th from 3-7 pm. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 29th, 2018, at Our Lady of the Cape in Brewster, MA at 11:00 am.
