Ralph A. Bowen, Jr. was born on August 30th 1942, and passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and son in the late afternoon of May 1st 2024 after a long illness. His burial was held at the Bourne National Cemetery on May 10th, 2024 with full military honors.
Born in Philadelphia PA, Ralph was defined by his 35 years of combined service in both the United States Navy where he served on submarines during the Vietnam War, and later in the Air Force Reserves as a Loadmaster serving on C-141s and C-5s. During Operation Desert Storm he served as an Intelligence Technician.
As a teenager, Ralph developed a love for Drum Corps, marching and playing the bugle in New Jersey. He was also a fan of NASCAR, and the NFL, his favorites including the Philadelphia Eagles, Phillies, and Dale Earnhardt. Ralph will always be remembered for his kindness and willingness to help others. He coached his son throughout his baseball career, and led one of his teams to winning a little league championship. He dedicated his life to passing on knowledge, sharing his many life stories and jokes, and providing love and support to both his family and anyone who was lucky enough to enter into his life.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years Marilyn, his son Buddy, his grandchildren Mikey and Addie Banks, son-in-law Dustin Banks and his wife Kristen along with their children Morgan, Harrison, and Willow, sister Monica, sister-in-law Darien, niece Dawn, and brother Warren. He joins his daughter Katy Bowen-Banks, and parents Ralph and Muriel in peaceful rest.
