

Robert John Berry, 91, of East Dennis, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Friday, June 9, 2017. Born in Worcester, MA to the late Joseph C. and Anna K. (McNeill) Berry, Robert was raised in Worcester and lived in Holden before retiring to the Cape 29 years ago. Robert was a graduate of Commerce High School and Worcester Polytechnic Institute School of Industrial Management. He worked for Norton Company, Saint-Gobain Abrasives in Worcester for 40 years and retired in 1987 as Manager of Customer Service, Industrial Ceramics Division.
Robert was a proud US Coast Guard WWII veteran and served aboard the USS J. E. Gorman commissioned in 1944 in the South Pacific. In his leisure, Robert loved to garden, oil paint and he enjoyed landscaping. After he retired Robert took piano lessons on the Cape and loved to tickle the ivory. He was an unbeatable scrabble player, but above all else he cherished time with his family.
Robert is predeceased by his first wife Frances N. Berry and his brothers Joseph C. and Richard P. Berry. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Antoinette A. (Latino) Berry; his loving daughters Gail C. (and Paul) Dufault of Worcester, MA, Nancy A. (and Thomas) Costello of Holden, MA, Elizabeth F. (and John) Madden of Holden, MA; his adored grandchildren Joseph T. (and Janet) Costello of Newport, RI, Meaghan (and Richard) Grendol of Holden, MA; his cherished great-grandchildren Ruth F. and Clara A. Grendol of Holden, MA; his dear sisters Betty A. (and Roderick) MacIsaac of Holden, MA and Elinor Polansky of Bealeton, VA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Our Lady of the Cape in Brewster, MA followed by a committal service with military honors at Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Dennis, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of the Cape, 468 Stoney Brook Rd., Brewster, MA 02631.
