

Ron was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Sarah Hutton Hyslop; his parents, Dorthey, and Kenneth Hyslop; his brother, Raymond Hyslop; and his sister, Beverly Blauvelt, Daughter in-law Peg Hyslop. He is survived by his son, Peter Hyslop of Westmore, VT; his daughter, Janice Flagg, and her husband, Clinton Flagg, of Dennis, MA; his grandchildren, Abigail Kohut and her husband, Charles Kohut, of Phoenixville, PA, and Alexsandra Jenner and her husband, Nicholas Jenner, of Alfred, ME; and his great-grandchildren, Colton and Mason Kohut, and Savannah Jenner. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
Ron graduated cum laude from Stratford High School. He pursued higher education through the General Electric Apprentice Program for Tool & Die and earned an associate’s degree from Bridgeport Engineering Institute and a bachelor’s degree from New Haven College.
Ron had a distinguished career in manufacturing and engineering. He served as a Manager of Manufacturing Engineering at General Electric in Bridgeport, CT; President of American Optical in Southbridge, MA; President of Omega Optical in Dallas, TX; and Vice President of Worldwide Operations at Colburn Optical in Tulsa, OK. His work was marked by innovation, leadership, and dedication.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Ron found immense joy in his personal pursuits. An avid woodworker and proud member of the Cape Cod Woodturners, he delighted in crafting beautiful creations. He also loved to travel, a passion ignited during his time in the Army when he was stationed in Germany and explored France, Holland, and Germany. In early retirement, he and Sarah toured nearly all 50 U.S. states in their motor coach and embarked on numerous cruises. Together, they built a cherished vacation log home in Vermont and resided in Connecticut, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, South Carolina, and Massachusetts. In his final years, Ron and Sarah made their home at Heatherwood, where he continued to pursue his love of woodworking.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to charity or cause, of choice.
