Tom is missed. We were discussing his rules for food just the other day. May his memory be a blessing

On the day my brother Tommy was born, our grandmother called to say that our Mom had had a baby boy. My grandmother grabbed my eight year old hands and led me in a dance that I didn't know she knew as we danced a dance of joy ! On most years of our adult lives, I would remind Tommy of that, to which he would respond "Kathleen, you already told me that "!

So saddened to lose such a dearly loved friend. Sincere condolences to Barbara and family. Tom has left memories I’ll treasure for ever. Barbara will recall introducing us to Basil Smash cocktails in the Pelican Bar on the evening we first met and annual favourites, Coco Bistro and Bugaloo beach bar. Tom’s gourmet level home cooking and high class wines from his cellar must be mentioned as must the trip across the sands to the oyster beds for oysters and champagne. I’ll miss our transatlantic WhatsApp chats and I will think of him often but especially when I watch Formula 1 Grand Prix motor racing. Rest in peace dear friend.

Tom was  enthusiastic in everything he did. He loved to impart his experience with others.  Among his lessons:
On cooking:
1. you eat with your eyes
2. let the star shine and
3. food knows how it wants to be cooked.

An early memory: preparing for dinner before Cait  and Aaron's Medical School "Hooding" Ceremony. He asked about the restaurant dress. I replied: "jeans casual." Tom went out and bought a pair of jeans just for the occasion. 
May his memory be a blessing. 

It is with heavy hearts that the Watson Family sends their condolences to the Martin Family.  We will miss Tom so much.  He left such an impact on our family.  So many memories.  From shoveling snow off the ponds for our ice skating parties, to introducing our children to movie classics like The Quiet Man and Casablanca, to celebrating Tom’s interpretation of the food triangle with his delicious meet dishes and, of course, beer, to driving together to college tours and, finally, to always baking the most fabulous Irish soda bread, he made every adventure more fun than the last.  I am so sorry that we can not be there to hug you all but want you to know that he will never be forgotten.  “Well it’s a nice, soft night, so I think I’ll go and join me comrades and talk a little treason.” Good night, Tom.  Denise, Patrick, Jamie, Cal, Sarah and Matthew.

Dear Martin Family - I am writing to remember how much Tom did for all of us.  It was great to have him in the neighborhood.  I loved his directness, tenacity, and cordial New York mentality :) It was a pleasure to know him. I learned a lot from him, including delving into auto racing fairly frequently.  We are all better off for having known Tom.  

With deepest sympathy and condolence. Always enjoyed our conversations ,Tom was bright,engaging and always upbeat.. I'm sorry I haven't seen him or his wife since our last high school reunion. I became his step brother when his mom Olga married my dad Jack McGowan when I was in my early twenties....my love and prayers for his family.

Some good memories. Being mistaken for Tony Orlando, the white 70's Trans Am 455HO with a blue firebird on the hood, German Shepherd "Sunshine", (first time I'd seen a schutzhund trained dog) getting my butt kicked in a kitchen demonstration of martial arts skills (I think Marty was there, also got his butt kicked) Standing in front of a Woolworth's in CT just before moving to Massachusetts, advised I would soon be dropping my "r"s and "g"s eg: "Parking the Cah in Havahd Yahd".  Regrettably, I did not have the good sense my sister Meghan had to really appreciate Tom why he was here. Say hi to my Dad Tom, I know he's happy to see you again.
