

Yolanda Rose Rice, 94, a first-generation Italian American, passed away peacefully in Boston on March 27th, surrounded by family. She was the wife of the late Howard E. Rice and mother to the late Janet Rice Russell. She is survived by children Denise Rice Hippert, Kevin (Marla) Rice, J. Timothy (Maria) Rice, and Kathleen Rice, son-in-law Richard Russell, as well as grandchildren Jeremy, Jacob and Elaina Rice, James Bradbury, Marietta and Clayton Majors, Angelina Russell and Andrew Hippert, 3 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Yolanda was predeceased by her five siblings.
Yolanda and her husband Howie lived in Milford MA for many years, before relocating their home and family business to Cape Cod in 1970. Living in Dennis for the last 50 years, Yolanda was a regular presence on bayside beaches in Dennis, carrying her beach bag and chair onto the beach into her late 80s.
Yolanda was known as the life of the party, always ready to have fun and laugh and see the humor in the most prosaic daily events. She was quick and agile and picked up the nickname "Yoyo" as a child because of her proficiency at yoyo and her mastery of "The Sleeper" yoyo trick.
Yolanda will also be remembered for her skills with homemade pasta and cooking the family's favorite holiday dish, porchetta. She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her for her love of Italian culture and cuisine and, for lighting up every room with her warmth and contagious laughter.
Services will be held Friday, April 4th at Doane, Beal & Ames funeral home, 729 Route 134, South Dennis with visitation beginning at 10 a.m., a Catholic service at noon, followed by burial at Oak Ridge Cemetery, South Dennis.
