I am 44 now and stll remember Mr. K letting me hit with what to me were very large wood bats. Needless to say he loved seeing a young kid like me try to play with the big boys. I am still stunned that Mr. K has passed away. His voice is till clear in my head even though I haven't seen him for years. I am playing for the Shawano Lakers a hardball team in Shawano WI and will be dedicating my season play in memory of Mr. K. So, I need to do well for him. I plan on putting his name on my hat somewhere. Mr. K can't be forgotten and I hope that South Milwaukee names a baseball field after him, so he lives on forever and I can visit it with my kids. My deepest condolences to the Knoche family. I still have fond, vivid memories of sitting in Mr. Knoche's classroom, though 32 years have passed. I recall a gifted business teacher who also conveyed wisdom on living well through his words, attitudes, and actions. May God bless and comfort you through this time.

I was so shocked when I found out that my favorite teacher in high school had passed away.  I had Mr. Knoche for a couple of classes, and he always made class lessons interesting.  He will be missed.  My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I was shocked and saddened when I found out about Mr. Knoche's passing.  I had him for several classes in the late 70's. He was a great teacher. I remember we liked him so much we baked him a cake and bought him a sweater vest. My prayers and sympathy to the Knoche family.

I am so sorry to hear about Brad.  I taught in the English Department in the 80's and loved working with Brad.  When I had his son, Brad always checked in to keep up with the young man's progress.  He loved his family so much.  I have fond memories of wonderful Christmas gala's at his home and enjoyed his spirit and spirts so much.  The only thing he ever did that made me punch him, was when he teased me when I came to him to have his students create a section of a paper quilt for "Important Women's Month" that there weren't any women to highlight! Still thinking of the real impacts Brad had on us, his players-- a real testament to what kind of man he was. 

Win or lose, he always made sure we played with class. Sportsmanship was important to him, and so was good citizenship. He never swore in front of us, which is INCREDIBLE for a football coach and still my golden standard for my own kids' coaches. 

He wouldn't tolerate bad behavior, sloppy uniforms, or long hair-- which seemed onerous to teenagers, but really gets you ready for life in the educated workforce.

He insisted on short sleeves even in cold weather, because regardless of the score we were going to be the toughest team on the field. This taught me an early lesson about perceptions and how to embrace them.

"Football players don't get sick." Another hard but important lesson he taught us-- just like "there's a difference between being 'hurt' and being 'injured'."

He took what we had (which many years wasn't much) and often made the best team out of it-- a good lesson in management.

I saw him in church every week with his family, and he lived a very public life in (and of) the community. I still can't really believe that he's gone. He was one of those larger-than-life presences that everyone had stories about. I could always expect to run into him somewhere, somehow, and it's so hard to accept that it won't happen anymore.

I was the oldest of three brothers to play for Coach Knoche, and probably the hardest to coach. When I was a player we butted heads a few times, but as I grew up I came to realize what a positive influence he'd been on me-- not just in football (where I still love the option attack) but in my own early efforts to get started in teaching and coaching. 

He and Mary Kay were invited to my wedding in 2005, and my last and best memory of him would be running into him, Mrs. Knoche, and their boys at Moran's Bar the night of my rehearsal dinner. I got to have a beer with my old football coach, and he offered to get up the next day and give a speech at the wedding about me, my brothers, and what great guys we were. Well Brad, you were a great guy too, and you'll be missed. You and your family are in our prayers.

Coach Knoche was never without a life lesson to share, or just some fun words of wisdom (there were many, many quotes).  He was my accounting teacher for two years and football coach for two years.  Never have I spent such a short amount of time with someone and learned so much.  Thank you for all the life lessons that I will surely pass on to my children and players on the teams that I coach.  My prayers are with the whole Knoche family.

Always enjoyed talking with Brad at the Brewer games.  Admired his football programs at South Milwaukee.  A quality guy will be sorely missed.

Mr. Knoche was a great man! I learned many things from him growing up through high school that I use to this day. My best wishes and prayers go out to the Knoche Family.

I played Basketball in 10th grade for Mr. Knoche around 1983 or so. He was  great. I taught me about weight lifting. He also had a summer Baseball league where I got to play with the big guys. I liked trying to impress him. He wore this white life guard type hat that was really cool. He will live on through my boys 11 an 8 who are currently all-stars on the Shawano Baseball team. I might even try out for a team in his honor. He will be missed but never forgotten. Love you Coach.

Brad and the enitre Koche family are like a second family to me. My condolences and love go out to the family. Brad was what the SM Rockets are all about! He was a positive, caring man to his students and athletes. He was a bridge to the championship basketball team from 1975-76 and it was truly an honor for me to coach with Brad in the late 90's and early in the 21st century. He was a dear friend and a mentor to me. I have so many great Brad stories and quotations; they always bring a smile to my face. He was a CLASS man!! God Bless!!

I am sending my deepest sympathies to the Knoche family during this very difficult time.  I had the distinct pleasure of working with Brad at South Milwaukee High School for four years.  During that time Brad showed his passion for teaching and served as a mentor to me.  I will always think of Brad fondly and smile.

I met Brad when I joined the South Milwaukee Lions and he could not have been more supportive or enthusiastic to have me in their organization. He helped me learn the ropes with his kindness and guidance and was always a good time at Lionsfest and District Convention. I consider it an honor to have known him.

I was really sad to hear about his passing. I did not have him as a teacher, but I really heard he was a great guy. He will be deeply missed by everyone from South Milwaukee and Beyond. He did a lot of great things for the school district. May God be with you through the grief you are going through.

Dear Knoche Family,

I and many of my teammates had the good fortune of experiencing Brad as a basketball coach in the 74-75 and then 75-76 seasons.  He was a big part of our State Championship year, as he had coached most of us diligently, kindly and with a great teaching perspective that 74-75 season - when we all played JV ball for him.  He was a great, friendly guy with a wonderful smile, and my teammates and I will all be saddened by this news.  We trust he is in a better place, hanging out with Coach Sullivan and others, having fun, smiling his infectious smile and watching over those left behind. A truly special man.

If you want to know what it takes to be a good man, a good person, a great teacher, a true role model, a leader... Brad Knoch is the epitome of each of these.  To know that I am only ONE of the thousands of students whose lives he touched makes me so happy because I know there are so many neighbors, co-workers and peers who are living by the example Mr. Knoche set. That in itself shows you how Mr. Knoche left the World a better place than he found it.

You were taken far too soon.  My thoughts and prayers go out to the Knoche family, Mr. Knoche's friends and the thousands of former students who may have lost contact over the years but continued to live by his example of kindness and compassion.

To say you will be missed is a true understatement.  I won't forget you.

To Brad Knoche's entire family, I had the pleasure as a football official to be on coaches’ sideline several times during his career at South Milwaukee. In high schools sports it is said that coaching is an extension of the classroom. That some of the things that are taught in the classroom should follow the student athlete on to the field. You could tell Brad was a teacher because he made sure that is exactly what happened. No matter what the final score was; at the end of the game a South Milwaukee Rocket football player knew he followed the rules, he showed good sportsmanship, he offered a hand to an opponent or teammate who was down, and he gave 100%. 

While coach took the time to instill those qualities in each of his players, he also took the time to help new officials like myself. He helped me to understand not only the spirit of the rules; but how to apply them as well. At the same time, he taught me it wasn’t just knowing the rules…it was also important that an official must have a good knowledge of human nature and the ability to control situations as they arise. I was once told that, “Sports is life with the volume turned up!” Although coach wasn’t the one to say that; it pretty much says in only eight words exactly what he was trying to teach.

Sure we didn’t always agree on the calls I made – that happens in sports - but at the end of the game, he always extended his hand to shake mine. Today I can say I am one of many officials who are lucky enough to call Coach Brad Knoche a friend!

Words can't express how sorry we are for your loss.  Brad was a wonderful man and he will be terribly missed.  I had the honor of knowing both Brad and Mary Kay for many years, first through my mom working with both of them in the So. Milwaukee schools and then working with Mary Kay in the Oak Creek schools for the past 10 years or so.  The love and support Mary Kay and Brad showed to each other over the years was wonderful to witness.  But watching Mary Kay and Brad deal with his illness over the passed several months was heart breaking, but also touching.  It showed the amazing love they had for each other.  I pray that Mary Kay, their children and grandchildren will find comfort in their memories of their husband, father and grandfather.  He was truly an amazing man.  Know that you have mnay friends, like myself, that will be there for you and praying for your family.

All of us were so very sad to learn of Brad's death. Only Ben had Brad as a teacher, but Courtney and Andrew knew how kind Brad was as well. Brad was a very special person with a truly wonderful family.  Brad and MaryKay had a way of making everyone feel special and very welcomed in their home. Brad Knoche was one of the most genuine individuals I have ever met. I only knew him for a little over a year, but I am better off for even knowing him that long. My sincere sympathies go out to his family and friends.

Brad was a customer of mine at Johnny Mo's and there was when we started our friendship. I looked forward every week to him and his wife coming in because I knew we would laugh and have great conversation. Mr. Knoche was a great teacher coach friend and a great man.My thoughts and prayers go out to his family

Coach, you taught me so much.  I will always remember the lessons I learned from you on the football field, in the classroom, and in life.  They will be passed on for generations through me and countless others.  Special prayers for you and your family.

To the Knoche family, I am so deeply sorry for your loss.  I was in many of Mr. Knoche's business classes at South Milwaukee High School.  He was a great teacher and cared a lot for his students and their future.  May the wonderful memories you have help get you through the sad days ahead.  My family and I are praying for you all.

I am very sorry for the loss of Mr. Knoche.  My daugther had him for accounting and no other teacher has impacted her in the same way.  He was a very special man.  I will keep your family in my prayers.

Let this light never fade, for everytime we look at it we gain strength and solice from the fact that Coach is this light. Still burning bright to let us all know that he may not be here in person but his spirit lives on in each and every single person that knew him

I am shocked and saddend by this news. Coach was a great leader,teacher,person and friend. I knew Coach for 3 years while I attended South Milwaukee high from 1993-1996.
 My heartfelt emotions go out to his loving wife and his children. 
 Hopefully they will find strength in his memory and in his life. Remember to not be sad in this time but be glad for the time you knew Coach. He is in a place where pain can not touch him, and is surrounded by the friends and family that have proceeded him in death.  South Milwaukee, the Lion's, and St. Jonh's Parish lost a great man, I hope as a community, we can be there to support his family as he helped support our dreams and lives as we knew him.

Mr. Knoche was a great teacher and will be greatly missed.  I thoroughly enjoyed being in his classes and, as an adult, his neighbor.  May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief.

Mr. Knoche was one of those teachers you just *had* to have for something if you were an SM student.  His love of teaching was infectious and it made being in one of his classes both fun and educational- something I value even more now that I am also a teacher.  He loved his students and he loved South Milwaukee.  I am fortunate to have had him as a teacher.  Yet another SM teacher has been taken from us too soon.  My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I want to send my deepest sympathies to the Knoche family.  While it's been a long time, I still remember babysitting for his children.  Mr. and Mrs. Knoche always made an effort to make me feel like part of their family.  
Mr. Knoche always tried to find enjoyment in his activities.  He showed great care and compassion for the well-being and development of his students and players.  He will be missed.
