

Alice Hafner Flanagan died on Saturday September 10, 2011 at Abington Memorial Hospital. She was 86 years of age. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late George and Alice Ahern Hafner. Alice was the beloved wife of James F. Flanagan for 52 years before his death in 2001. She was also preceded in death by her brother George (Bud) Hafner. She was a Warminster resident since 1972 and had previously lived in the Germantown section of Philadelphia.
Mrs. Flanagan was a homemaker. She was also a former employee of Metropolitan Health Care. Alice was a Communicant of Nativity or Our Lord Parish in Warminster. She enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Artman Home gym in Ambler. Alice was devoted to her family and treasured her friends.
Alice was the loving mother of Maureen (Thomas) Cherenack of Avalon, NJ, Kathleen (Michael) Farrell of Warrington, James (Rosemary) Flanagan of Warminster, Timothy (Kathy) Flanagan of Jamison, Theresa (Joseph) Snyder of Warminster, and Joanne (Thomas) Farrell of Warrington. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, her brother-in-law Edmond Fitzpatrick, sister-in-law Mary Hafner, five nieces, two grand nieces, a grand nephew, extended family and many friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Thursday September 15, 2011 from 9:30 to 10:30 AM at Nativity of Our Lord Church, 585 W. Street Road, Warminster, PA 18974. Her funeral mass will follow at 10:30 AM. The interment will be private.
For many years Alice sent donations to charities in the names of her children and grandchildren in lieu of gifts. She felt strongly that the greatest gift is to support others. Alice requested that, in lieu of cards or flowers, donations be made to Covenant House, P.O. Box 731, New York, NY 16108-0900; Habitat for Humanity, P.O. Box 7339 Atlanta, GA 30362-9806; or St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, MT 59004-1001.
