

Charles L. Bonner, 81, of Wood River Village, Bensalem, PA passed away peacefully on Monday, September 9, 2013. Charlie was born March 30, 1932 in Wildwood, NJ, the son of Charles Luther Bonner and Helen (nee Pierson) Bonner. The oldest of four children, he attended Wildwood High School and proudly served in the US Navy from 1951-1955. He served aboard the destroyer USS Kimberly during the Korean War. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans. Charlie was a dedicated employee of Meenan Oil of Tullytown, PA for 28 years. Upon retirement he relocated to Shallotte, NC where he resided for 15 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. During his residency in Shallotte, NC he volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Habitat for Humanity through Camp United Methodist Church where he was an active member. He also enjoyed his part-time work for the Beacon newspaper. He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Florence (nee Evans) Bonner; Devoted father to Robin Bonner (Lisa) of Langhorne, PA and Charles Bonner Jr. (Lori) of Mohrsville, PA. He was the loving grandfather of Ryan Bonner, Kelli Cheeseman, Janine Bonner and Lindsay Fantini (Michael) and five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Corrine Jordan (Kit) of Portland, OR and niece, Cathy Kernels (Mike) of Greensboro, NC and nephew Jimmy Bonner (Denise) of VA and four great nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff of Life Choice Hospice and Wood River Village for the loving care given to Charlie. Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at Bensalem Presbyterian Church, 2826 Bristol Road, Bensalem, PA. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the church and all are invited to a reception in the church Fellowship Hall immediately following the service. Interment will be private at Rosedale Memorial Park.
