

Philadelphia,passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 6, 2016, at
Southampton Estates., Pennsylvania She was 93 years of age.
Martha was the daughter of the late Abraham Zion Yeary and Orlena
Pearl Elkins Yeary.
Born and raised in Chickasha, OKlahoma; her Father a City Alderman,
and surrounded by the Horses they raised. Her marriage to Robert G. Powell was on January 3, 1953, in Philadelphia where they settled until moving to Southampton in 1966 Martha and Robert had two children in addition to the two children Martha had from a previous marriage.
Martha was a 1944 Graduate of the Chickasha College for Women,
studying Legal Clerical Administration and Fine Arts. She worked at Ft.
Sill as a Classified Civilian Employee on the B-52 program, when she was
introduced to Robert.
Always athletic, she became a Championship figure and couples
skater at the State and Regional Level, Teaching and Judging from
1958-1969, even teaching her children. Always active, she worked for the
Centennial School District as a school bus driver for over twenty five
years. Concurrently, she volunteered for the GIrl Scouts of America
1961-1974, was a Worthy Matron in Eastern Star, raising money for Local
Charities 1975-1988. An Oil Painter collected locally, she helped design
and install the Stained Glass Auditorium Entrance at Bucks County
Community College. When Robert retired they enjoyed their grandchildren,
traveled and Square-Danced together.
She was known for her Beauty, Kindness, Artistic and Independent Spirit.
She was predeceased by her Husband, Robert Powell in 1997.
Surviving are Sons from a previous Marriage, Paul D. Bird (Lisa) and
Sheldon E. Bird (predeceased 2006) her Children with Robert, Daughter,
Dana-Zoe Gest (widowed 1989) and Son Sean Powell (Janice), her six
Grandchildren, Misty Bird Isbell (Shane), Michael Bird, and
Step-Grandson, Blake Bird (deceased 2014) Anna Steffner and Gordon Gest,
Tyler and Carly Powell and her Great-Ganddaughter, Addison Isbell
Friends and family are invited to a gathering to celebrate her
life, on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, between 10am-11am at Wm. Rowen
Grant Funeral Home, 659 Street Road , Southampton. Services will begin
at 11:00am
In lieu of flowers, her family has requested donations in her
memory be made to, the Alzheimer's Association
