Born in Philadelphia on March 19,1936, she was the daughter of Casmir and Jennie (Lesczynski) Nowicki. Mildred was a life-long resident of Tacony and Holmesburg, having moved to Feasterville-Trevose three years ago.
She was a "strong-willed" woman who raised her three children on her own. Mildred was a sharp dresser who held herself confidently, like royalty. She loved Cadillacs and she always had one! While working at the chocolate factory, she always indulged her children with pounds of chocolate, brought home from work. Shopping at flea markets and at K-Mart was a favorite time for Mildred and a special treat for her grandchildren, who were permitted to choose a "treasure". Becoming a teenager on their 13th birthday, was a very special occasion for all of her grandchildren. They were permitted to choose their favorite restaurant, where they celebrated with champagne. Family and friends remember that, like Frank Sinatra, she "did it her way".
She is survived by her three children; Roseann Zimmerman, Alfred McGee and Diane Wheeler (the late William Wheeler), her step-daughter, Patty Kuscin, and her sisters, Dorothy Braden and Rosemarie Sozio. She will also be sadly missed by her seven grandchildren; Amy, Stacy, Ty, Amber, Michael, Bill and Mark and her ten great-grandchildren; Alan Jr., Devon, Heidi, Audrey, Dakota, Drake, Sadeek, Michael, Colin and Danny and her great-great¬grandchild, Cad.
Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Mildred will be held at St. Dominic Church, 8504 Frankford Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19136 on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 10:00 AM.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, which Mildred also supported.
