Ruth had gusto. She loved to garden, laugh, play cards and games of any sort and the Philadelphia Phillies. She was a jigsaw puzzle master. Years ago she was quite an excellent horseshoe player and could throw a mean frisbee. She worked for many years at Asplundh Tree Co. where playing cards with her co-workers took place everyday at lunch. Over the years she knitted many sweaters and gifts. Her famous chocolate cake and Christmas candy were enjoyed by many. In the family, it is known as "Aunt Ruth’s Candy".
She was an active and long time member of Huntingdon Valley Methodist Church, Huntingdon Valley, PA. Her yearly trips to California to visit her daughter and to have adventures, were a highlight, as well as trips to Hawaii, Greece and England.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) Spare and her brother, Allen Gery, Quakertown, PA. She is survived by her son, David, Harleysville, PA and daughter, Adele, Oakland, CA, her brother, Arlen Gery, Gainsville, FL, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends near and far.
