

Mrs. Vining was born December 9, 1945 in Jacksonville, Florida. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Oak Island, where she had sang in the choir. Betty was retired from 7/11 Convenience Stores, where she had been a store manager and had worked for 35 years. She enjoyed her time laying out and swimming in the pool, sitting on her porch drinking coffee, traveling, visiting resorts and casinos. Betty had volunteered at Dosher Memorial Hospital, and each August she and her husband would travel to Memphis, TN to attend the Elvis Presley Convention. Betty will be remembered as a great cook, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, as well as being a caregiver for her husband.
Survivors include her husband Charles C. Vining, Sr.; her mother Mary Green of Jacksonville, FL; two sons, Randy Turner of York, SC, and Charles C. Vining Jr. (Misty) of Oak Island; three daughters, Sandra Simmers of Rock Hill, SC, Debra Turner (Danny) of Southport, and Missy Vining of Charlotte; two brothers, Daniel Bennett, and Arthur Green; two sisters, Janice Penney, and Barbara Peeples; eight grandchildren, Brittney, Stephany, Leesa, Bradley, Miranda, Danielle, McKaylah, and Emily; and two great-grandchildren, Kole and Scarlet. Mrs. Vining was preceded in death by her father William Daniel Bennett.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at First Baptist Church of Oak Island. The family will have visitation from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, prior to the service at the church.
