A native of Haywood County with an undeniable love for the mountains, he was the son of the late Ralph and Emma Sheppard.
Following a long career as a passionate woodworking craftsman and furniture design engineer, David could be found in his workshop working on gifts for family and friends. He was a member of Glenola Baptist Church in Sophia, NC where he taught Sunday School, sang in the choir and was a soloist. He dearly loved his family in Christ. David never met a stranger and loved to regale you with stories of his many hunting, fishing and life experiences.
David was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Emma and his brother Daniel Sheppard. He was a loving father to his three children Kim Whetstone (Mike), Rob Sheppard and Amy Sheppard and loved his three grandchildren and great granddaughter. He is also survived by his sisters Zena King (James), Annie Whitner (Ben), and Polly Palmer (Jeff).
A life celebration will be held at a later date in the mountains of NC.
