Eileen was born in Canton, Illinois on January 21, 1947, to John Paul and Margarette “Peggy” Johnston. Her family moved to Indiana where she grew up and developed a love of caring for horses. She later moved to Columbus, Ohio where she attended Ohio State University and received a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and dental hygiene and later became a Certified Financial Planner. She raised her daughter, Alison, in Columbus, and met Jack, to whom she married in 1991. In 1993, they moved to Birmingham, Michigan where she continued to work as a financial planner until retirement, when she and Jack moved to Southport, a community they loved. She always had a love for the water, and bird watching which made Southport, NC the perfect place for retirement.
In retirement Eileen found a love for pottery, studied at the Cameron Art Museum in Wilmington and became an active member at the Franklin Square Gallery. She became an accomplished potter, won many awards, and served as the treasurer and later active member of the Financial Committee supporting the current treasurer maintaining the gallery’s financial system.
