James Ernest Crump

Born January 1, 1948 in Monroe, NC, he was the son of James and Doris Crump. Ernie married his high school sweetheart, Donna, in 1967. In 1968 he joined the US Army with his duty station being in Germany, then after leaving the US Military they moved back to Ohio. He worked 25 years for Roadway Express Trucking Company until relocating in 1988 to Oak Island. He retired in 2014 after 22 years at Lowes Foods of Southport. After retiring he and his wife enjoyed RVing in the Florida Keys.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Donna Crump of the home; his son, Matthew A. Crump of Fayetteville, NC, and his children, Mikayla and Gehrum; his daughter, Deanne Hoffman of Southport and her husband, Matt, and son, Hayden Karnes; his brother, Ed Crump of Raleigh, and his wife, Donna and their daughter, Kayla; a sister, Jill Rusgo of Troy, MI and her husband, Alan, and their son, Josh and their daughter, Hannah; and many extended family members and friends.

Services are private and at the convenience of the family.
