James Elliott Hargrove Jr.

James Elliott Hargrove Jr. was born on October 7, 1942 in Southport, NC. He was one of four children born to the late Linza Carlton and James E. Hargrove Sr. He entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 10, 2016.

James Elliott Hargrove Jr. graduated from Brunswick County Training School in 1962. He was also a proud graduate of Shaw University of Raleigh, NC in 1966. While studying at Shaw he became a member of the Delta Psi chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. James taught in the Brunswick County School system for over 20 years until his health no longer allowed him to. James worked very hard in his community and was a member of various organizations. James was a member of Mt Carmel AME church until he became sick and was unable to attend regularly. James truly loved the Lord and enjoyed studying and teaching the bible. James was a friend to many, always giving unselfishly to others, and will truly be missed. James enjoyed fishing, cooking, listening to music, reading, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Geneva, and his brother William T. Hargrove.

James will forever be remembered by his three beloved children, James Hargrove, III of Roxboro, NC, Reshonda L. Hargrove of Knightdale, NC, and Amanda B. Hargrove of Durham, NC; two brothers, Robert E. Hargrove (Bonnie) of Southport, NC and Clarence Hargrove of NJ; grandchildren, Chyna C. Hargrove of Knightdale, NC, Xylon Walker Knightdale, NC, Cameron Hargrove of Roxboro, NC Jameson Hargrove of Roxboro, NC, Kobe Hargrove, Roxboro, NC, Ja’Kaden Woods Roxboro, NC, Jashua Hargrove Southport; goddaughter, Jamie Jackson; a special great niece Jasmine and great nephew Montrel, along with countless nieces, nephews, friends and family whom were blessed to know him.
