Albert spent his childhood in Williamston, VT and later worked in Barre for 20 years as a stonemason, carving granite headstones. As a young adult, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and faithfully served his country during the Korean War, receiving a Bronze Service Star. He married Marie Yvette Marcotte on December 27, 1952 and they enjoyed 67 years together. They have one daughter.
Albert and Yvette moved to Southington, CT where he worked as a machinist for Pratt & Whitney. Upon retirement, he moved to Enterprise, AL for 4 years. They settled in Southport, where he spent the last 23 years of his life. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southport.
Nothing brought him more joy than spending time with his loved ones and working in his shop. Albert was a master craftsman and carpenter. He designed and created beautiful wooden furniture and household items for others. At local craft fairs, he sold his famous birdhouses and feeders. He was a collector of diecast cars and acquired hundreds throughout his life. Some of his grandchildren’s favorite memories were visiting grandpa and playing with his cars. He enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica and loved listening to country music. He also enjoyed deer hunting and spending time outdoors with his brothers.
Albert loved helping his neighbors and was known for his loving smile. He was also known for his incredible patience and calm demeanor. In his 80s, as his wife struggled with Alzheimer’s, he took over the cooking, cleaning, and other household tasks so he could keep her by his side. Albert is survived by his wife, Yvette, their daughter Suzan (Earl); three grandchildren, Chris (Eva), Tracy (Joe), and Amy; three great grandchildren, Jack, Ella, and Evan; and five siblings, Gertrude, Joe, Robert, Paul (Ann), Richard (Cheryl).
