

Born July 13, 1915 To Albert and Emily Lavedan in Elmhurst, NY, Lee a graduate of Montclair State College [1937] met Guy Cunningham from Drew University on a blind date. They married in 1938.
Formerly of Chatham, NJ, Lee was preceded in death by husband Guy H. Cunningham II, daughter Ann, and son-in-law Aladar Brokes, Lee is survived by her son, Guy [Kathleen Schneider] Cunningham, daughters Joy Brokes, Suzanne [Ray] George, Lee Layton Austin, Caryl [Herb] Hudson, and by her grandchildren, Thomas and Douglas Cunningham, Christopher, Michael and Kevin Brokes, Susan Brokes, Ray Andrew George, Donald Bevis Layton Raymond Guy Layton and Scott Allen Layton, Jeff Hudson and Mike Hudson and by her great grandchildren Samuel and Carter Cunningham, Alexander, Andrew, Kathryn, Jacob and Ethan Brokes, Noah, Sasha and Isabella, Uzi, Sledge, Max, Felix, Sarah, Benjamin and Sophia.
A devoted mother and wife, Lee was also active in the church, League of Women Voters and PTA. At age 93 Lee moved to St James and became a greeter at the Trinity United Methodist Church. On her 99th birthday she joined the church band on stage to play the symbols. At 101, Lee was the oldest mahjong player at the St James Community Center.
The service will be held 11:00am July 13, 2017 at Peacock-Newman & White 1411 N. Howe Street in Southport.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at 10:00am.
In lieu of flowers Lee asked to have donations made to either Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Habitat for Humanity or St Jude’s Hospital for Children.
