Mrs. Powell was born June 30, 1932, daughter of the late Orby Prince and Ruby Todd Prince. She was preceded in death by her husband James Thurman Powell and daughter Teresa Gail Sweeney.
Survivors include her sons, Mark Powell of Baltimore, Maryland, and Harold Sweeney of Missouri; brother Larry Prince of Leland; sister, Barbara Weese of Oak Island; 3 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held at Lafayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville.
