Mrs. Lowery was born February 23, 1927, daughter of the late Jesse Clayton Sykes and Olivia Evans Sykes in Sparta, NC. She worked as a machine operator for Reynolds Tobacco Company for 35 years. She was a longtime contributor, and was recognized for her contributions to the disabled veterans. Mrs. Lowery was preceded in death by two sons, Wallace Franklin Lowery and Ronnie Lee Lowery; a daughter, Betty Lowery; four brothers, Burt, Reese, Carl, and Kent; and two sisters Mammie, and Ruth.
Leaving to cherish her memory are her children, Steve Lowery of Southport and William Lowery and wife Melony of Lexington; four grandchildren, Timmy, Lisa, Tracy and Zachary; two great-grandchildren, Casey and Haylie; and a longtime friend Claudia Tuttle.
A graveside service will be held at 2pm Monday, October 3, 2016 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Winston-Salem with Reverend Jimmy Truell and Reverend Jimmy Lancaster officiating.
