She married William (“Bill”) J. Fitzpatrick on September 17, 1949, at the Nativity of Our Blessed Lady in the Bronx. They were married for 54 years when Bill passed away in 2004. She was proud of her Irish heritage and New York City roots. She loved music, dancing and swimming.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Joan Ford Ryan, and her son-in-law, Robert Pinney.
She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Pinney of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her son Kevin Fitzpatrick and his wife Colleen of West Bloomfield, Michigan, and her son William Fitzpatrick Jr. and his wife Rosemary of Southport. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Carillon Assisted Living of Southport, and the Southport Nursing Center for their loving care during Margaret’s short time in North Carolina.
Memorial donations can be made in her name to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation (bbrfoundation.org) or the ALS Association (alsa.org).
The remains of Margaret and Bill will be buried later this year in Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx, only a few miles from where they grew up, met, and were married.
