Dr. Boone was born in Spartanburg County, SC on December 8, 1929 and was the son of the late J. Jefferson Boone and Lillie Leila Hollifield Boone. During his career he practiced in Tampa, Florida, Valdosta, Georgia and Spartanburg, South Carolina.
He is survived by his wife, Carole M. Boone; two daughters, Jennifer Wingo and Beth Boone Mittendorf; two grandchildren, Kristy Lowery and husband Roger, and Katy Self and husband Russell; five great-grandchildren; and his faithful canine companion KoKo.
