
He was born October 23, 1952 at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho and grew up in Palm Springs, California. Mr. Soderlind joined the US Army in 1971, doing his basic training at Ft. Ord, in Monterey, California. He was stationed in Bitburg, Germany and in late October, 1974 he met his Debbie and married March 15, 1975. Their son Ragnar Theodore was born January 28, 1977 at New Hanover Hospital in Wilmington, North Carolina. He was a Special Forces Medic serving during the Cold War and the Gulf War. He was a graduate of the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, California, and was awarded the Southwest Asia Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Saudi Arabia Humanitarian Medal, Joint Meritorious Unit Award, Parachutist Badge, Special Forces Tab, Combat Infantry Badge, German Armed Forces Marksmanship Badge, Belgian Armed Forces Parachutist Badge, French Mountain Badge (Pyrenees) Austrian Mountain Badge, and German Mountain Badge.
Mr. Soderlind is survived by his wife Deborah Ann Holden Soderlind; his son, Ragnar Theodore Soderlind; two grandsons; two granddaughters; a great-grandson; five brothers; and a sister. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
