Richard Arron Elkins

He was born on January 15, 1954 to the late Lewis H Elkins and Lillian H Smith.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Lewis Jr; brother in law, Larry Deal.

Richard was a retired veteran with The United States Army, earning a Bronze Star metal during combat. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Elks Lodge in Oak Island. Richard was a founding member of the Oak Island Water Rescue. He served as a code enforcement officer in the Town of Oak Island. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.

Those left to cherish his memory is his wife, Linda Huff; daughter, Jennifer Elkins; son, Richard "Rick" Elkins II (wife, Megan); sisters, Pamela Deal and Grace Hardwick; brother, Donnie Elkins (wife, Teresa); grandchildren, Richard "Ricky" Elkins III , Kiera, Zoe; his nieces and nephews; a special neighbor; and his dog, Rosalita.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 4:00PM at Peacock - Newnam and White Funeral and Cremation in Southport, NC. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service from 2:00PM to 4:00PM.
