On 5/10/2019 Richard Anthony "Beav" Nazzaro passed away, after a period of declining health. Richard was born 12/16/1944 at Chelsea Naval Hospital, Chelsea, Mass to the late Anthony Nazzaro and Dorothy Wright Nazzaro. He was raised by Dorothy and his step-father in Woburn and Lexington, Mass., attending local schools. Richard served in the Army National Guard.
Beav married Margaret "Maggie" Stearns November 23, 1974. They enjoyed a long life together that was always an adventure. In 1983 their first child was born and Beav became a stay-at-home Dad. Their second child arrived in 1986. Beav loved to tell everyone that he worked at many different jobs but the hardest and most rewarding by far was raising his two children. Beav believed his reward came when he attended the graduations for US Marine Christopher Nazzaro and Dr. Jessica Nazzaro. He was immensely proud of his children. They were truly his pride and joy.
Beav was always an avid sports fan. He loved his New England teams. He thoroughly enjoyed the many championships his teams brought home. Beav also coached the many teams his children played on. And when he wasn't coaching the kids, he was right there coaching the coaches (and referees/officials). Beav also coached the Peerless/Netherlands men's softball teams for a few years.
Beav and Maggie officially retired in 2011. They enjoyed their retirement years in their North Carolina home. It was a dream come true for them - especially Beav. Beav's health became problematic in 2018. In typical Beav fashion he called all the shots. In the end he passed on his own terms - peacefully at home.
Beav is survived by Maggie, son Chris, daughter Jessie, and grandson Andre Richard; Chris' partner, Courtney Dunnell and her children Nick and Ashley; Jessie's husband Jason Alsept and his children Branden and Lauren; and sister-in-law Pat Stearns.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in June in Jaffrey, NH.
