

A native of Oliver Springs, TN, Richard was a good student and attended University of Tennessee after 4 years in the Navy. Then, after graduating from Oklahoma State University, he became a Nuclear Health Physicist and eventually settled in Southport, NC. In 1995 he retired from Duke Energy as a Senior Specialist in Environmental and Radiation Protection.
Richard, a devout Christian, regularly attended Ocean View United Methodist Church on Oak Island, enjoying the services, camaraderie, and fund-raising events there. His hobbies included home building and repair, continuing education courses, traveling, tending his beautiful Azaleas, growing Crepe Myrtle trees, and he was a member of the Lion’s Club and enjoyed their fund-raising events.
Richard was a kind, caring person, and a loving father and grandfather. He is much loved and will be very missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Ruth Queener and by his wife Emily Queener. He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Packer and Melanie Morgan, grandchildren Samantha Stark and Mitchell Morgan, great-grandchildren Ryder Stark, Rodney Morgan, and Levi Morgan, brothers Jack Queener and Steve Queener, and their families, and former wife Patricia Osborne, and in-laws Tony Morgan, John Packer, Matt Stark, and Danielle Morgan.
