

Mrs. Rickard was born January 22, 1922 in Butler, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Charles L. and Mildred A. Louden Brown. She graduated from Butler High School in 1940 and married Wilbert “Rick” O. Rickard on October 21, 1942 in Butler, Pennsylvania. Mrs. Rickard worked at Lamont Doherty Geographic Observatory in Palisades, New York for 20 years as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement in 1981. They moved to Pearl River, New York in September 1961 until October 1984, then moving to Boiling Spring Lakes. While living in Boiling Spring Lakes, Mrs. Rickard enjoyed golf, had a “hole in one,” played in North Carolina Senior Games, was a member of the “Saturday Night Poker Ladies Club.” She was also a member of the Women’s Golf League Association, Lady Birds from the Lakes Country Club in Boiling Spring Lakes, and Seniors Golf of Brunswick County. Mrs. Rickard was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport, a member of Live Oak Chapter of the Eastern Star No. 179. Ruby enjoyed traveling, especially going overseas to Ayrs, Scotland to find her family castle, the Louden Castle. She also visited Ireland, Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Morocco, England, Aruba, Bahamas, and Australia twice. Mrs. Rickard established a scholarship at South Brunswick High School in memory of her daughter Sandie Rickard. She was a strong supporter of the youth golf “First Tee”, donating many club set ups for South Brunswick High School. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert “Rick” O. Rickard who passed away in 1997, daughter, Sandra E. Rickard, brothers, Gordon Brown and Charles Zane Brown.
Mrs. Rickard is survived by her children: Constance Palmer of Rensselaer Falls, New York, Gerald Rickard (Carole) of Boiling Spring Lakes, William Rickard of Oceanside, California, Ruby Kay Kamrowski (Robert) of Boiling Spring Lakes; seven grandchildren, Lynn Palmer, Scott Stanley, Daniel Palmer, Jeffrey Rickard, Melinda Rickard, Tod Ganzer, and Lee Ganzer; ten great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, also a sister Bonnie McDonald, of Tarpon Springs, Fla. and brother in law, Dean
Rickard, of Cabot, Pa., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 2pm Monday, July 6, 2015 at Peacock-Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service in Southport.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm at the funeral home.
