

Mrs. Scharf was born March 1, 1942 in Hampton, New Hampshire the daughter of the late Dr. Charles and Virginia Bailey. She was a member of First Congregational Church in Malone. Mrs. Scharf was a registered nurse, having graduated from the Concord Hospital School of Nursing in Concord, New Hampshire. She worked for 30 years at Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone where she worked in Infection Control and Quality Assurance. Mrs. Scharf was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; she loved the outdoors and spending time on the water. She was an avid snow skier, painter, gardener, and played the piano and guitar. She was active with the Alice Hyde Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, the Boy Scouts, her book club, and church youth group activities.
Surviving is her husband James E. Scharf, whom she met while touring in Europe; two sons, Stephen Scharf and wife Valerie of Southport, and Christopher Scharf and wife Cherice of Wilmington; two brothers, Harold Bailey and wife Beth of Hyde Park, VT and Charles Bailey and wife Debra of Hubbardston, MA; three sisters, Brenda Black and husband Bill of Palm City, FL, Nancy Doggett of The Villages, FL, and Alice Burruss and husband Dr. George Burruss of Memphis, TN; three grandchildren, Zachary Scharf, Hannah Scharf, and Caitlyn Scharf; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in Malone, New York.
