Anthony P. Romano

Mr Romano was the son of the late Antonio Romano and Mildred Romano (nee Levano) . Mr Romano was a resident of Sparta for the last fifty years. Mr Romano was born in New York City and graduated from New Utrecht High school in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy Kings Point , NY in 1957 with a degree in engineering. After graduation Mr Romano served as an engineering officer on merchant ships for 5 years. He worked for various design firms and shipyards until he joined Gibbs and Cox Inc as an engineer and project manager. He spent the rest of his career at Gibbs and Cox Inc. eventually retiring as CEO and Chairman of the Board. During his many years with the Gibbs and Cox the firm was responsible for many important ship designs for the United States Navy and other navies around the world.

Mr. Romano was predeceased by his wife of 62 years Diana and is survived by his son, Andrew Romano and Andrew’s wife Kathy of Sparta NJ, and his grandson Stephen Romano of Brooklyn NY.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 6, at 10AM at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 294 S Sparta Ave., Sparta, NJ 07871. Interment will follow at Sparta Cemetery, 32 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871.
