Axel W Lohninger

Axel W. Lohninger, 72, of Sparta, NJ passed away on July 1, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Axel was born on March 30, 1944 in Berlin, Germany to the parents of Wilhelm and Hermine Lohninger. He came to the US in 1953 at the age of 9. Axel was a graduate of the New Jersey Institute of Technology with a Bachelors in Electrical Engineering and then received his masters in Nuclear Engineering, class of 1969, from New York University. He worked for 40 years at Picatinny Arsenal in Dover, NJ, retiring in 2003. His interest included travelling, skiing, soccer and sailing. Axel is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Carol Wilcox Lohninger; father of Kristin Barreau and her husband Kissinger and Karl Lohninger and his wife Stacy; beloved grandfather of Kayla, Kaiden and Kylie Barreau and Drea and Kaydra Lohninger. Axel is also survived by his sister Ingrid Talbot.
