

Born in Denville, NJ, Carrie grew up in Jefferson Township, Lake Hopatcong, NJ before moving to Lafayette, NJ in 1997. She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1987 and earned an Associate Degree from the County College of Morris, both with high honors.
She was a literacy volunteer, tutoring in English as a second language. She was also a math tutor. She had owned her own business as well as helping out in her brother’s company and with her mother’s business.
Paralyzed at age 17, Carrie was a source of inspiration and strength for everyone that knew her. Carrie touched many lives and will live on in our hearts and memories.
Along with her husband, Ramon, Carrie enjoyed travel, the outdoors, attending concerts, shows, dining out, and spending time with family and friends. Furthermore, Carrie had a witty and infectious sense of humor. Carrie was an avid animal lover. She adored her cats Baby, Kate and Allie, Callie and Martina. Carrie also had an extensive doll and bear collection.
Carrie was predeceased by her maternal grandparents William Croxville, Doris Croxville Cytowic, Leroy Bachman, her paternal grandparents Colin and Frances Abbott, her father Kenneth Abbott, and stepfathers Leroy Buchanan and David Sasher.
She is survived by her beloved husband Ramon Borges, her loving mother Deborah Buchanan, her sister, Christine Cobaugh and husband Brad, her brother Colin Abbott, her aunt Barbara Rubin and husband Ronald, and her in-laws Ramón and Carmen Borges, as well as the extended Borges and Sasher families. She is also survived by her niece Amanda Erny and nephews Adam Erny and Bryan Cobaugh, many cousins including Nichole Rubin, Brandon Rubin, and Jackie Childs and many friends including Tracy Simpson, Pat Hope, Ruth Gilmore, Sandy Hall, Lynn Rogers, Pam Costea, Nancy Bagwell, Joann Bugel, Chris Rasmussen, Michelle Smith, Sue Kent, Kate Wassmer, Rayna Regenthal, Donna Valente, Gail Camuso and Lorrie Schilling.
Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate Carrie’s life and share memories of her on Friday, June 14 from 2 - 4 PM and 7 - 9 PM at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main Street, Sparta, NJ 07871. Mass will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 294 Sparta Avenue, Sparta, NJ 07871.
