Donato, Dr. Dan, was born in Morristown, NJ, to Alex T and Lucrezia (Panzarino) on February 17, 1950. He graduated from Morristown HS, and completed an undergraduate degree at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ. Dan attended dental school at Fairleigh Dickinson School of Dentistry in Hackensack, NJ. He opened his family dental office in Stanhope, NJ, where he worked until he retired in 2022. Dr. Dan was known as being the gentle dentist and had four generations of families coming to his office.
Music was an integral part of his life from an early age. He learned to play the organ at 10, and worked as a part time church organist at St. Margaret’s in Morristown through dental school. Later on he and his musician friends started the band the Other White Meat and played for charity events for many years. His favorite time of year was the Jazz Fest in New Orleans every spring. His other passion was photography. He organized many art show benefits featuring photos from his travels all over the world. He also photo-documented the reconstruction of the Statue of Liberty.
Dan traveled extensively over the world where he enjoyed different cultures and exposure to many unique foods. His favorite places were Ravello,Italy and New Orleans, but he was happiest making pizzas for his family and friends at home with his pizza oven.
Dan is survived by his wife of 47 years Carol Ann (Schilling); his daughter Christina Ann and her husband Colin Miller; and son Alexander Lawrence Soranno and his partner Stephanie Bates.
Surviving grandchildren are Alexandra, Declan, and Lucas. He also leaves behind his sister Nicoletta and her husband Richard Graf.
