

Marilyn Ruth Salfelder (Tooker), age 76, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, which was her favorite day of the year. She was a longtime resident of Lake Mohawk, NJ until Aug. 2024 when she moved to Bristol Glenn Retirement Community, in Newton NJ.
Marilyn was born in Staten Island, NY where she lived with her parents, two sisters and brother. She graduated from Port Richmond High School in 1966. She started college at Monmouth University and completed her education at William Patterson University with a Bachelors in Education and later completed a Masters in Mathematics. She was a teacher in Newton, NJ for 31 years. After retirement, she continued substitute teaching and tutoring for 11 years.
Marilyn loved Lake Mohawk. Some of her favorite things to do were walking, boating, and entertaining friends and family. She loved cooking and baking. Her most requested things to bake were Cream Cheese Brownies and Turtle Cookies which she happily brought. She was President of both the Junior Woman’s Club and Manitou Beach as well as Chairperson of The Lake Mohawk House Tour.
Marilyn was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend. She is predeceased by her parents Merritt and Betsy Tooker and sister Karen Larsen. She is survived by her sister Betsy Terjesen and brother Merritt Tooker, Son Mark and Daughter-in- Law Kimberly Salfelder of Sparta, NJ, Son Brian Salfelder and Daughter-in- Law Anat Flasterstein and their two children Ethan and Emma of Cranford, NJ.
A memorial visitation and service will be held on Saturday January 10th, 2026 from 11am-3pm at Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilyn’s memory may be made to United Methodist Communities c/o Bristol Glenn 200 Bristol Glenn Drive, Newton, NJ 07871.
