Miriam Schneider (nee Rowe) passed away on July 31, 2014 at Newton Medical Center where she received the finest, most loving, attentive care from all of the staff, nurses and Dr. Nadarajah who cared for Miriam during the last 25 years. She received the best care one could hope for at the end of life. Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice was a great support.
Miriam was born in East Orange, New Jersey on February 10, 1925 to the late Agnes Mamsfield and William F. Rowe and was married on August 16, 1952 to the late Henry J. Schneider, father of Henry G ; and Ronnie) both deceased and Ginny. Miriam so enjoyed helping Henry in the care of his family.
Miriam was a Licensed Practical Nurse since 1950 and over the years took care of hundreds of patients. She often spoke of her time as a hospital bedside nurse, her relationship with the elderly nuns at St. Claire’s Denville; her years as a companion to many in the community. She loved working at Sunrise House in Lafayette where she made life-long friends.
As a resident of Knoll Heights for the past 22 years, Miriam was known for her love of gardening and wild life, feeding various animals and had a beautiful bird bath. Her little doggie Missy was her companion for much of her time at Knoll Heights where the people who worked there became her family too. She loved to cook and was known for her awesome cheesecakes. Miriam was generous with her time and loved helping those in need. She lived at the Homestead Nursing Facility for a short period of time where she was the recipient of excellent care and kindness from all who worked there.
Miriam will be missed by many, especially the Fitzpatrick family with whom she had a special relationship and shared many happy times together. Susan Wilke of Lakeland Bank was a wonderful help to Miriam over the years and was appreciated for her dedication to her.
A Blessing was held at 1PM Monday, August 4, 2014, at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta, NJ 07871. At Miriams’ request donations may be made in her memory to: The Nine Eleven Fund, or Knoll Heights Village, 39 Trapasso Drive, Sparta, NJ 07871.
