

Ruth C. Voreck, 95, of Sparta, New Jersey passed away at her residence on January 28, 2017. Ruth was born in Chicago, Illinois, January 9, 1922 to Ashton Casler and Greta Goldzier. She studied chemistry Purdue University. She joined the war effort as a research chemist, to work on “the secret” Manhattan project; at Met Labs in University of Chicago. There she met her future husband at a square dancing and hiking group. Together they lived in California, North Carolina, and settled in New Jersey.
Ruth has been a resident of Sparta since 1969, as an active member of the community and was a member of the Xi Beta Rho Sorority in Sparta; Sparta Women’s Club; Newton Golf Club; Broadway Bound bus group; Sunshine Singers; and the Sparta Athletic Club where she organized the women’s leagues and played tennis. Ruth was an avid bridge player and her family was the first to have a windsurfer on Lake Mohawk. Together they traveled the world visiting places like Egypt, Tahiti, Virgin Islands, and all of Europe.
She is predeceased by her beloved husband of 62 years, the late Wallace E. Voreck Jr. Ruth is survived by her devoted children: Marilyn S. Terry and her husband Eric of Jersey City, NJ; Rick Voreck and his wife Diane of Portola Valley, CA and Donald Voreck and his wife Rachel of Sparta, New Jersey. She is also survived by her loving grandchildren: Paula and Austin Scheyer, Christopher Voreck, and Charlotte and Ashton Voreck and her brother Harry Casler. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 4-7pm at the Goble Funeral Home,22 Main St, Sparta, NJ 07871. There will be a funeral service at 7pm at the funeral home. A celebration of Life will be held Sunday, July 2, 2017 from 12noon-4pm at the Voreck residence.
