

Thomas F. Considine, 85, of Newton, passed away on September 20, 2011 surrounded by his loving family. The son of Irish immigrants, he was born and raised in Hoboken, NJ. He was a US Army veteran of WWl I, attaining the rank of Technican Fourth Grade. He fought bravely in the Pacific and was present when the Japanese surrendered to the Allied forces in the Philippines. He was a member of the American Legion and Newton VFW Post 5360. In 1965, Thomas moved to Newton, working for 40 years as a career bartender at The Waldmere, Feher's Country Inn and the Newton VFW. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 46 years, Lorraine, in 1996. He is survived by his devoted children, Timothy Considine and his wife Cheryl of Dutchess Co., NY and Tara Perretta and her husband Christopher of Sparta. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Gabrielle, Thomas and Anthony Perretta, sisters in law Pat Barker, Carolyn Carmody, Barbara Gabat, and Jackie Carmody and many nieces and nephews. Thomas was a wise man with a quick wit and a deep faith in God. He enjoyed the simple pleasure of being surrounded by family and was regarded as a true gentleman by all that knew him. Friends may call Thursday from 2-4, 7-9pm at the Goble Funeral Home, 22 Main St., Sparta. A funeral mass will follow at 10am on at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 294 Sparta Ave., Sparta. Interment will follow at Newton Cemetery.
