Amy "Betsy" Elizabeth Johnson

Amy Elizabeth “Betsy” Johnson passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2023. Born March 25, 1970, she was the only child of Carol Close Johnson. Betsy lived her entire life in the Spokane Valley, attending Broadway Elementary, North Pines Junior High, and University High School, graduating in 1988.

In 1993 Betsy graduated from Spokane Community College earning an Associate of Applied Science Degree in the Medical Secretary program. She worked in the medical field for 27 years. For the past 12 years Betsy has been working as an account manager at Physician’s Choice, doing billing and research for medical providers. Betsy was dedicated to her job and looked forward to spending time with her coworkers. She was committed to her accounts, and the providers adored her.

Betsy was always fun to be around and drew in many friends with her beautiful smile. With the passing of her mother in August of 2022, she was thankful for the assistance and understanding of her coworkers, family, and dear friends Selena Oldham, and Rhonda & Jeff Petruso.

Betsy is survived by her aunt, Pamela Close Dale (Lon), first cousins Bradley King, Chris Close (Lisa), Carrie Close Loomis (Mike), Kyle Dale (Liz), Blane Dale (Megan), their families, and many other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Carol Close Johnson, grandparents Carl C. and Elda Pagnutti Close, uncle Tony Close, and aunt Tonya Close Houger.

Funeral services will be held at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, on Saturday, March 18, at 11 A.M. Following a reception, burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, 7200 N. Wall, at 2 P.M.
