Anna O. Kolberg

Age 88

Anna was born to John and Ingeborg Erickson on August 22, 1922 in Ashland, Wisconsin and passed away on October 13, 2010 at Highline Care Center, East Wenatchee Washington. She is survived by her daughter Anita McLeod, and sons, Mike Gomez, John Gomez, and Donald Gomez, as well as grandchildren, Aaron, Aletha, Adam, Andrea, Andrew, Adrian, Ginger, Kimberly and great-grandchildren, Hallie, Evan, Samuel, Coco, Alexis Leilani, Emma, Scott, Zachary, Nichole, Joanna, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Kolberg, two sisters Hilda and Myrtle, one brother Axel, a grandson Michael Jr., and a granddaughter Erika. Anna married Abel Gomez during War World II. While Abel served in the Invasion of Southern France, Anna served as one of 40 personal secretaries for President Franklin Delano Roosevelt. After the war, Anna and Abel moved to Spokane, Washington. Anna attended Washington State College in Pullman and St. Luke’s Hospital, School of Nursing in Spokane to become a registered nurse. She retired as head nurse from Fairchild Air Force Base Hospital. Anna was involved in her children lives supporting them in all their pursuits including athletics, music, and church activities. She raised her four children, as a single mother, working the midnight shift to help meet family needs. Anna always thought of others first, helping all in need. Her devoted service to family, friends, and patients was deeply appreciated. Her pure spirit, integrity, and love expressed in service to others will be deeply missed. The family wishes to thank the staff at Highline Care Centers in East Wenatchee, Washington for their kindness and care for Anna. Anna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral services will be held at the Bowdish Ward building at 40th Ave and Bowdish Road on Tuesday, October 19th at 10:00 a.m. A visitation will be at 9:30 a.m. prior to the services. Internment will follow at the Pines Cemetery, 1402 S. Pines Road, Spokane Valley.
