David Emil Zellmer, 72, passed away to be with the Lord on December 8, 2022 after courageously battling cancer for two years. He lived in Spokane Valley and attended Opportunity Christian Fellowship. He was born on May 2, 1950 in Spokane to Walter and Frances Zellmer, who were long time wheat farmers in the Davenport/Harrington area. The family attended Harrington Nazarene Church. David was raised in Davenport and graduated from Davenport High School. He helped out on the farm, driving wheat truck during harvest, riding farm horses, and shooting ground squirrels. Through his life time he drove Greyhound bus, drove long haul truck, did some logging, and drove school bus. His favorite was driving school bus because he liked kids, since he was a big kid himself. David had a wonderful singing voice, loved the traditional hymns, and was part of several choirs. People enjoyed hearing his voice during church services. He enjoyed watching football games with the Seahawks, and his favorite team, the Saints! He liked to garden, and especially liked growing tomatoes. David is survived by his wife, Elvia, married 36 years in 1986. They first met on Doomsday Hill as he walked with a cane because of a broken toe, and then later met again in an aerobics class. His son, Raymon, and four grandkids, JR, Jeremiah, and Aurelia live in Arizona, and Dillon in Minnesota. He wished he could have seen them more often during his illness. He has two older brothers, Gerald and Arthur, still living in Davenport. David had a deep love for family, friends and the Lord. He will be greatly missed! A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, December 19th at Strate Funeral Home in Davenport, WA, 505 10th Street, with graveside service to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
