

Passed away peacefully on November 29, 2011. Born in Absarokee, MT. the oldest of 2 children to Miles and Erna Eik. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Lauretta, in 2006, his parents, Miles and Erna Eik and sister Dorothy Dempster. He is survived by three sons Darrell Eik of New Orleans, LA, Greg Eik (Colleen) of Otis Orchards, WA and Brad Eik (Rhonda) of Cheney, WA; three grandchildren James, Daniel and LeAnna Eik. He spent his childhood in Rosco, MT., graduated from Absarokee High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII, trained at Farragut and served on the U.S.S. John W. Thomason and in Pasco, WA. He then attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings, MT where he met Lauretta Smith, whom he married in 1952. They lived in Billings, MT, Portland, OR and then in the Spokane Valley for 41 years. Edward was employed at Les Wilkins and Associates as a medical salesman until his retirement. He was a rancher in his younger years and maintained a love for the outdoors. He and Lauretta loved camping in their R.V. and were life member’s of the Good Sam R.V. Club and Get-Along-Sam. Edward was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. The family would like to give a special thanks to caregivers Debbie and Lorri. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley with Deacon Jack Crandall presiding. Private inurnment St. Joseph Cemetery, Trentwood, WA. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Dogs for the Deaf, Inc., 10175 Wheeler Road, Central Point, OR 97502.
