Jim passed away suddenly in his sleep of natural causes. He was born to Warren & Sarah Powell Rogers in Tacoma, Washington. At that time he had one older sister Beatrice (Bea) with a younger sister Deanna (Dea) born 7 years later. He always joked that we were the bookends and he wouldn’t argue with the bookends. He moved a lot in his life as his father looked for work and then at the age of 17 joined the Navy and did a 3 year tour of duty getting an honorable discharge in 1963. In 1965 he joined the Army and spent his tour of duty in Weitheim, Germany and received an honorable discharge in 1968 with a Good Conduct Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. After working in many different jobs from security guard to working in the woods to raising rabbits he turned to his love of drawing and woodcarving and engraving, working many beautiful pieces from pictures to clocks to gunstocks. He also had a great love of bowling and made many special friends in each house he bowled in, especially Valley Bowl in Spokane, WA. He is survived by his two sisters, Beatrice DePratu of Whitefish, MT and Deanna Profitt (Cal) of Libby, MT, his children, Leahi, Jimmie Jr., Tony, Shawn, Warren and Sarah and step daughter Terri Bartman (Steve), plus numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren & Sarah Powell Rogers and his wife Patricia Rogers. There will be a celebration of his life this Friday, December 16, 2016 from 11:00 to 1:00 PM at Valley Bowl, E 8005 Sprague, Spokane, WA.
