Joe was born in Caldwell Idaho on March 8, 1967, the youngest of six children of Blaine and Nita Jemmett. As a young child, he was described by his mother as being “always interested in what made things tick” and this attribute remained true throughout his entire adult life as he was constantly intrigued about the mechanics and functionality of every type of equipment.
He graduated from Hepner High School in 1985 and then attended college at the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls Oregon where he graduated in 1992. He was blessed with two children, Cori and Aaron.
Joe served his country in the Oregon Air National Guard for 14 years. Part of his service included an active duty assignment with Operation Iraqi Freedom. He then started a long and successful career with Bonneville Power Administration where he was able to use his incredible knowledge, attention to detail, and curiosity, to benefit all who had the privilege to work with him.
Joe was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He blessed the lives of all who interacted with him through many different opportunities for service. His faith eventually led him to the love of his life, Stephanie Lucas. They were the perfect match and were sealed for time and eternity in the Portland LDS Temple on November 11, 2017.
Shortly thereafter they purchased their home in beautiful Valleyford WA, where they had room to explore all their many hobbies and dreams for the future. Joe and Steph were an amazing duo and were happiest when tackling one of their many ambitious projects together. Joe’s home was filled with equipment and tools of every variety, he knew the details of every single one of them, and his eyes would light up if you asked him about any of them. Like his father, he was an “Artisan of Machinery” whether that be farm and heavy equipment or industrial kitchen appliances.
Joe loved to make people smile and laugh and even during his most challenging times in the hospital, his goal was to brighten the day and bring a smile to the many nurses, doctors, and assistants who were caring for him. He was always more worried about others than he was about himself.
He was preceded in death by his parents Blaine and Nita Jemmett, and sister Voy Ann.
He is survived by his beautiful wife Stephanie C.L. Jemmett and brother Rulon Jemmett (Pat), sister Kath Fisher (Ron), brother Fred Jemmett (Norma), sister Valene Ransom, and children Cori and Aaron.
Funeral services will be held on March 4, 2025.
