My dear sweet Aunt Lillian- 
January 27, 2015 was your 103rd birthday! I believe you enjoyed a birthday celebration in Heaven much more than you would have enjoyed one on earth.  I'm missing you and so happy for you at the same time.

Thank you Aunt Lillian for marrying Uncle Oscar on April 18, 1952 –joining the Olsen family when you were 40 years old!  The fact that I was born on that same day was all part of God's plan for us to be connected closely all my life.  And that is exactly what happened.  I have childhood memories of you and Uncle Oscar's visits to Portland on your road travels.   Besides just seeing you, a highlight was that you always took all of us (my Mom and six kids!) out to eat at the Chuck Wagon Buffet.  It was such a nice thing for you to do for us…and brave too!  My Mom loved both of you so much.  She talked about you a great deal.  As I grew to adulthood, our relationship continued to grow as well.  You always sent me birthday cards and letters and I sent you and Uncle Oscar anniversary cards and letters. We communicated other times through the year as well.  I glowed every time you'd introduce me to people and say “she's very special to us.”  Although you and Uncle Oscar never had your own children, it was obvious that you loved kids in your relationships with family and friends.  You were so excited for me when my son John was born in 1977.

After my Mom passed in 1993 and Uncle Oscar passed in 1996, we grew even closer.  We'd have long conversations on the phone about anything and everything—always including the topic of our shared Faith.  We'd write letters back and forth and we continued the annual birthday/ anniversary cards.  We'd visit in person as often as possible and always say we wished we lived closer to each other.  

You lived your life as an example to others of what it truly means to be a Christian—you consistently “walked your talk” in your strong, quiet, loving journey through life.  I thank you deeply for that and I thank you for loving me.  You richly blessed my life and the lives of so many others in your nearly 103 years on this earth.  I'll love you forever.

A memorial gift in Lillian's name is being given for the training of Hispanic men and women as church workers to the Center for Hispanic Studies at Concordia Seminary, St. Louis MO.  Mark Kempff,Professor who Lillian knew.  She and I discussed this prior to her passing.

A sympathy card did not seem appropriate as we all knew of Lillian's faith and her wish to join Oscar and all the other many saints.
  
The Memorial Service I'm sure would have pleased Lillian. May the Peace of the Lord be with you always.

Lillian was such a sweet lady.  We both loved her very much.

I want you to know how very special you have been in my life. You were my Mom's older sister--she looked up to you.

I have always respected the fine woman you are. I still remember the times we shared when I was a child. I admire how you handled life's challenges. Miles have always separated us, after you left North Dakota. You will always hold a special place in my heart.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lillian's family.  I have such good memories of Lillian.  She reminded me so much of my Mom.  When she lived on Broadway she was Mom's neighbor.  When I was pregnant with our first daughter I was in Kathleen's Fabric Store and I told Lillian I had an accident and she said, "No Honey, your water broke!"  God's Blessings and Love

Lillian was a wonderful wife to Oscar and friend to me and my family.

So much to say about such a beautiful person. Growing up with her and Uncle Oscar being like a 3rd set of grandparents for Michael and I was such a wonderful gift. Easter egg hunts, hearing the stories of their travels, amazing holidays, so many incredible memories. Whenever I'd send thank you notes, I'd always include drawings for her and Uncle Oscar, they would tell me how much they loved them every time, for a child that's quite encouraging. I'm sure it's a big reason why I love the arts so much to this day. I could talk to her about anything and we'd have such great conversations. I remember an Easter when she was in her 90's that we went to visit in Spokane at Grandma Clem's house and we all played Bocce Ball, for her it was the first time and she was like a kid again, tossing the ball with keen accuracy, crazy agility, beating all of us! I used to tell her she's like a unicorn to me, so unique and magical. An amazing role model to have in my life, I am so grateful to have known her, to have loved her and to have had her as my Great Aunt in every definition of the word great. I love you Aunt Lillie, then, now and forever.

This lady...how can I say enough about her? She didn't just shine, she sparkled. She was the picture of warmth, kindness, generosity, vigor and resilience. I remember so many good things when I think of her--spaghetti in a box for lunch, followed by a box of Cracker Jack, the times she rode her bicycle to our house, hearing about her adventures with Oscar and the surprise packages I'd get in the mail after we'd moved away. She will be greatly missed by so many.

My dear sweet Lillian,you were a very special lady.  You will be forever missed.  Sorry that you were in so much pain at the end.  Now you are with Oscar and the angels.  It was and honor to have you as my friend. REST IN PEACE, my sweet angel.  Love you and miss you.

Lillian was such a special lady. It a blessing to have known and worked with  her for 32 years. She was always thoughtful and interested in people. I appreciate that you let me join you at Wendy's last spring and I was able to see her again. I will always think of her and Oscar with special thoughts and thankfulness that they were a part of my life.  One special memory of her was a year or two after Oscar passed and she was trying to understand all he did to provide for her and do her taxes she said," Darn Oscar, I could ring his neck for leaving me with all this to do and worry about", We have a lot of laughs over that thru the years. Lillian was always so fun.  A cup of coffee, a glass of wine and a chocolate  bar always  made her happy!  She and Clem were two of the cutest little ladies when they were together. I know she is happy to be in heaven.  Rosanne Collins

Lillian, I have never met you personally, although; I have heard, many, many lovely stories about the journey of your life. All of the people you came in contact with and all the hearts you touched are blessed to have known you for the 102 years you were here with us. R.I.P. Lillian you will forever be missed and never forgotten.

Ever since I heard about Aunt Lillie's going to the home she has longed for for so long, memories have been flooding my mind!  I have so enjoyed the pictures and it has helped me understand the difficult journey she has had.  I remember her quiet, gracious ways, her soft laugh and our conversations of her growing up years with my mom and her deep faith. I too so appreciate all of you who have cared for her and our Aunt Clem.  God bless you all!

Merry Christmas Lillian.  Your wish has finally been granted and you are with God and all your loved ones who went before you.

I'm in Minnesota this morning, but my heart, love and prayers are with all of you. Aunt Lillie was so much a part of my childhood. She helped form my life and I am grateful for her touch of love. My richest memories are the phone calls where we shared our faith. Thanks to those who for cared for her in her old age. Heaven must be a very happy place today as Aunt Lillie is reunited with so many loved ones.  Kathleen Weissman Blaine, Minnesota
