

Lois W.Cunningham, 84, was born on May 28, 1926 to Harry and Lois Walker in Wauconda, WA and passed away suddenly and peacefully from unexpected heart problems on August 9, 2010 in Spokane, WA. She loved gardening and yard work, and lived life on her own terms, even in her passing. Mom will always be remembered for her tireless dedication of helping and taking care of family, friends and strangers alike and will be missed dearly. Lois is survived by her son, Tom Cunningham and companion, Lecia May; two daughters, Jacki Mayer (Dan) and Laura Triber (Greg); eight grandchildren, Marcus Dauterman (Charmaine), Yvonne "Maggie" Trask (Ryan), Damian Cunningham (Sheera), Cara Roe (Chad), Amber Smith (Joshua), John Naccarato, Ben Mayer (Natalie) and Craig Cunningham; 13 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Yvonne Cunningham Eccles (Chuck) and cousin, L.G. Cunningham (Lorna) and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Cunningham in 1998. Lois grew-up in the Tonasket, WA area, where she graduated from high school, then received her nurses training at St. Anthony's in Wenatchee, WA. She retired with over 50 years of service as a registered nurse working at the Tonasket Hospital, Edgecliff Sanitarium and the Valley Good Samaritan Convalescent Center. She helped in the founding of the Spokane Valley Heritage Museum and continued as a volunteer until her passing. She appreciated her friendship with Jayne Singleton and the other staff members at the museum. She was also a former Board Member of the Valley Good Samaritan Village. Memorial Services will be held on Friday, August 20, 2010 at 10:30 A.M. at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley with Chaplain Manny Denning officiating.
