

Mike, or Mickey as he was known in his youth, was born on September 9, 1941, to Roger and Illa Phillips at Deaconess Hospital in Spokane, WA. He was soon joined by sister, Kathy, and brother, Jim. After graduating from Central Valley High School, Mike enlisted int he US Navy, spending seven years on nuclear submarines, most notably the USS Swordfish. In 1968, Mike met the love of his life, ReNae Osterhout. Mike and ReNae went on to marry and raise five children together.
Michael's legacy was his love of and devotion to his family, and his strong believe in his faith. Throughout Mike's life, he was a shining example of hard work, integrity, kindness, tolerance, honesty and compassion for others. These traits were evident in all aspects of his life, whether in his fifty years working for Simpson Engineers, his involvement in his community, or being an active member of his church. Mike earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Eastern Washington State College, and enjoyed many hobbies including snow skiing, water skiing, biking, jogging and racquetball.
Mike is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, ReNae Phillips; children Deanna (Dan) McCollim, Dennis (Becky) Phillips, Teresa Kuhnkey, Andy (Leigh) Phillips, Nick (Joumana) Phillips; grandchildren Brandon (Teresa) Johnson, Sheldon Soreano, Taran (Kelsey) Phillips, Alexah (Josh) Fahrni, Ian Phillips, Jordan Kuhnkey, Colton Kuhnkey, Jayvyn Phillips, George Phillips, Oakley Phillips; great grandchildren Isabelle Johnson, Isaac Johnson, Cully Phillips; brother James (Gayne) Phillips, and brother-in-law Jeff Brittain. He was proceeded in death by his parents Roger and Illa Phillips and sister Kathleen Brittain.
