During her 83 years, Nola earned an associate’s degree in Psychology from Nichols State University, she was a top salesperson at Dillard’s for two decades, and she spent many hours working with various ministries, such as the Backyard Bible Club, the international ministry at her local church, and she loved to participate in Operation Christmas Child. She also served as the resident counselor at Mission Messiah, a safe home for women and children. But it was her family, her beloved children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, who stole her heart and were the focus of her life.
Nola is preceded in death by her husband Jack, her daughter Karole Kaye, her sisters Kathy, Nelda and Jenny, and her brothers Royal and Charles. She is survived by her sisters Jerri and Diane, and her brothers Ritchie, Kenny, and Gary; and her four children, Miriam Rogers (Scott), Jimmy Dickson (Tina), Jerlene Cannon (Keith), and Rae Dickson. She also has 17 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Nola loved Jesus. He was her constant focus, her Savior, her Friend, her Comfort. She loved her family best by being a faithful prayer warrior for each and every one of them, and that became her ultimate quest, to cover each of them in prayer. Her eternal hope was that they would love Christ and that He would see them through this life, and that she would see each of them in heaven.
An entry in her journal sums it up this way:
“Be still and know that I am God… I will be exalted in the earth…” Ps. 46:10
Please Lord God, let my children; all my descendants be among the ones who recognize you and live with you forever. Please teach me to trust the power of your sovereign Holy Spirit to draw each one to yourself through the saving blood of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Let my heart be still…
Nola Jean Honeycutt went to be with her Savior on Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Her story is just beginning.
